The Dr. Nadine Hunter Youth Heritage Fund was established by Clan Hunter Canada following a generous donation received from Dr. Nadine Hunter, a long time member.
Several subsequent donations were able to increase the bursaries available to assist young people in Canada to pursue activities that support their Scottish heritage. Activities may include, but are not limited to, dance or music lessons or competitions, travel expenses, entrance fees, or supporting the purchase of appropriate attire for performances or competitions.
Each year up to three bursaries of $100 each may be awarded. Successful applicants must be 20 years of age or younger and the child/ward/grandchild of a Clan Hunter Canada member, paid and in good standing, for at least 2 years.
The fund is administered by the Youth Heritage Fund Committee of Clan Hunter Canada who receive and review applications. Decisions regarding the disbursement of bursaries can be made twice per year, in the Spring and Fall.
Photographs and a written summary of the activity the funds are used for are required to be submitted in a timely manner to enable the recipient’s story to be shared with all members in our quarterly newsletter. The established conditions of disbursement and application deadlines were updated and approved at the Annual General Meeting in 2023.
