Hunterston Castle, 30th June, 2021

News about the Clan Hunter International Gathering 2021 from our Clan Chief, Madam Pauline.
At the time of writing there are no changes to travel restrictions for those wishing to enter or leave the UK. Quarantine regulations are in place and we expect to hear more news about this in July. Below are two briefings from Madam Pauline, Chief of Clan Hunter and from Lois Wallace and Carol Hunter Sullivan, tour operator for We Make Travel Easy and tour guide and historian, respectively.
From Madam Pauline
Dear Clansfolk,
Following the announcement from our governments that the date for opening up the UK is to be delayed by several weeks due to the rise in Covid-19 cases from a new variant, I have made the very sad decision that we will not hold our full International Gathering this year. It will be moved to 2022.
The date to the Clan Hunter International Gathering will be over the weekend of the 2nd to 4th September 2022 and I am so looking forward to welcoming you finally to your Clan home, Hunterston Castle.
The tour that was being arranged by Carol Hunter Sullivan and Lois Wallace is to be transferred to next year with their original programme. However if you have already made plans and booked your flights I will be holding a smaller Gathering at Hunterston Castle with almost the same programme. The only real change will be our Dinner venue. I will be able to confirm the venue once I know how many will be joining me.
We are pleased to announce that plans are underway to produce a wonderful Virtual Clan Hunter Gathering. If you cannot come to Hunterston, let us bring Hunterston to you! It will be available on a virtual event platform September 11th 2021. Check on the Clan Hunter website and Facebook page to find out how to obtain the virtual event.
In the meantime, I invite you to visit our official Clan Hunter website www.clanhunterscotland.com.
Please rest assured that you will all always be welcome to visit Hunterston Castle.
Yours aye,
Madam Pauline
Clan Chief of Clan Hunter
From Lois Wallace and Carol Hunter Sullivan
Greetings all,
Carol Hunter Sullivan and I had a zoom meeting with Madam Pauline and Lucy
Hunter-Weston. It was decided that it is in the best interest of all to postpone the
International Clan Hunter Gathering tour once again.
The US and Canada are still in the orange category for entrance into the UK ,
which means covid testing and quarantine, making leisure travel impossible. It is
unknown when those restrictions will be lifted or changed, making travel
uncertain. So, the consensus was to postpone once again. Things are on the right
track with travel opening in other countries. Travel in 2022 is on track to be a little
more normal. There may still be vaccine or testing requirements, but the thought is
when the countries you are traveling from and traveling to have reached herd
immunity restrictions will be much smaller.
Madam Pauline is going to move forward with a simplified event over the weekend
of 3 rd to 5 th September at Hunterston Castle for those who wish to attend. She is
working on a wonderful virtual event for those who cannot attend in person since
she knows you are all saddened by this news. It will be available on a virtual event
platform Sept.11 th 2021. Check on the Clan Hunter website and Facebook page to
find out how to obtain the virtual event.
Carol Hunter Sullivan and I will be going back to the original itinerary for the Clan
Hunter Group tour, adding back in the overnight on the Isle of Arran and including
excellent guided sightseeing as well as transportation and inclusions in all Madam
Pauline’s Gathering plans. Watch for more information in September. I will be
keeping you on my email list so we can keep connected.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about travel.
