Dale Hill, Clan Officer for Clan Hunter Canada

Dale Hill at the Fergus Highland Games, 2024
Dale Hill, born and raised in Ontario with strong Scottish ties
Dale Hill was raised in Dundas, Ontario and currently lives in Hamilton, Ontario near the West Harbour waterfront district. His Hunter lineage comes from his maternal grandfather, Allan Hunter, who was born in Ulverston, England and immigrated to Canada at six months old. Current genealogical research has not yet connected back to Scotland, but there are definitely Scottish traits found in the bloodline as well as a love of Scottish treats! Through his father’s maternal grandmother, direct connections to Scotland can be found in Galbraith roots, which is intriguing considering we share our ancient and modern tartans.
Dale at the hub of his community
Dale has been working in public schools with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board since 2000 and in his current role as an Elementary School Principal since 2022. In his spare time, Dale Hill enjoys volunteering for a variety of organizations, including Food4Kids Hamilton, VRPro Races, and has received a 20-year volunteer recognition award for his work with the Community Living Hamilton Drum Corps. Dale attends Knox Presbyterian Church where he previously served on the board and sang with the Praise Team. His trailer, located on Lake Erie, is his home away from home from May to October every year. Dale enjoys spending time outdoors, decorating excessively for every holiday and spending time with friends and family.
Clan Hunter is always in Dale’s heart
Dale loves travelling and some of his recent favourite destinations include Newfoundland and Australia. In 2017 Dale enjoyed a trip to Scotland with his mom and had the opportunity to tour Hunterston Castle, search for Nessie and experience the sights and sounds of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. He can’t wait to return one day and hopes to participate in an upcoming International Gathering.
Clan Officer for Clan Hunter Canada
As part of Clan Hunter Canada, Dale Hill started hosting the Clan tent at the Fergus Scottish Festival in 2019 with his wonderful friend Daphne Clarke. He became the Deputy Clan Officer, serving under Tom Hunter, in 2020 and was installed as Clan Officer during Madam Pauline’s visit to Canada in August 2022. He was honoured to help host our Clan Chief during her visit along with the rest of the team in Ontario. Dale loves promoting Clan Hunter through Scottish Festivals and Highland Games and connecting with, and getting to know, fellow Hunters across Canada and around the world!
